JSEcoin (Javascript Embedded Cryptocurrency) is an in development coin that utilises browser based mining. JSEcoin is aimed at the web developer market, as an alternative to ads. The idea being that a website can have the miner running in the background whilst the user browses. The miner utilises the visitors CPU whilst they are on the page earning the website owner coins. The visitor to website does not receive anything, other than hopefully an ad free experience.
Over the course of about an hour I managed to mine 0.04 JSE, but this was with the browser open on the mining tab only. Leaving it running overnight I have earned more. One thing that this miner does differently to others is that you are not rewarded directly for solving hashes. Instead for every hash you solve you are entered into a lottery. This lottery happens every 30 seconds, with 50 miners being rewarded with 0.005 JSE. As time goes on the reward will become harder to achieve.
Personally I really like JSEcoin. I think it has a place in the market and could have good adoption. The future for the coin also includes methods for integration into online purchasing, making it a useful all rounder for web developers. The main issue will be whether the website visitor is happy with mining happening on their machine without them knowing, or if certain blocking software is developed. Furthermore, this is uncharted territories (legally speaking), therefore web visitors would need a warning that this is happening in the background.
